Prepare for the Freeze

Jan 30, 2023

Belterra Residents,

As you are likely aware, temperatures are expected to drop significantly this week. During recent hard freeze events, flows at the wastewater treatment plant have spiked as residents spend more time at home indoors, and are often dripping faucets to protect pipes in their homes. As the cold weather approaches, the WCIDs are asking for your help in keeping flows to the treatment plant as low as possible to conserve capacity at our wastewater treatment plant. Below are some tips to assist in this effort:

Showers – try your best to cut the time you normally spend in the shower. Cutting shower time by just a few minutes will help reduce flows to the wastewater plant.

Dishwasher/Laundry – try your best to limit to one or two loads a day and make sure to space them out over a few hours.

These small changes will help avoid overloading our system. We thank you for your help during this time.
